Syrian Law Enforcement, Security Members Recount Details of Attack by Armed Men

A number of the law enforcement and security members recounted the details of how they were targeted by saboteurs and gunmen while they were performing their duty.

“We were hit with stones by a number of demonstrators although we stayed away from them,” said a security member in an interview with the Syrian TV about Friday’s incidents in al-Khalidieh in Homs.

He added that he and his fellow members soon found themselves the target of fire shooting by rioters. “When I was trying to rescue one of my colleagues who had been shot, I was beat up twice from behind my back and taken into a mosque where I was hit with knives, sticks and stones until I passed out.”

Another security member, who was on duty in al-Baiyadeh in Homs, told how he and his fellow members were surprised when an armed group started firing at them.

“I was shot twice in my thigh and hand. One of the gunshots was from a Russian rifle and the other from a Pump-action rifle. A colleague of mine was martyred in the attack,” said the security member.

A law enforcement member recounted the details of the attack which targeted him and his colleagues at the hands of a group of masked men and saboteurs who were among the demonstrators in al-Barazil Street.

“They were carrying sticks, stones and Molotov bombs and they started to throw them at the cars and shops in the area…when we tried to end the riots, the opened fire at us and I was shot in my leg,” said the law enforcement member.

“While we were on a mission on Friday near the Sports Center in al-Rastan around 3 am, we were targeted with heavy firing from a BKC machinegun and a rifle and with 4 RBJ grenades,” said a security member who was injured from fragments.
