Al-Shammat, during a tour to the Cherubim Monastery in the city along with governor of Damascus Countryside Hussein Makhlouf, pointed out that the goal of the visit is to assure the safety of the Monastery’s staff, inspect the damage caused to it by the acts of the armed terrorist groups and offer support to the displaced families in Saydnaya.

For his part, Makhlouf affirmed that the governorate will spare no efforts to meet the citizens’ need in the towns and cities that came under the attacks of the armed terrorist groups.

Bishop Luca al-Khouri of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchy, hailed the sacrifices of the Syrian Army in confronting terrorism.

“We will remain steadfast thanks to the Syrian Army and every honest person,” al-Khouri said.

During the visit, 1000 food baskets were offered to the displaced families in the area.
