Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels Major Attack on Gov’t Positions in Homs Province

 

The Syrian army warded off terrorists’ massive attack on their positions in Homs province after hours of clashes, inflicting major losses on them.

The Al-Nusra Front (recently renamed to Fatah al-Sham Front) terrorists’ major attack to capture the government forces’ positions near the villages of Ein al-Hossein an al-Ameriyeh was fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Aleppo and Deir Ezzur, over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in Syria’s key provinces.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops fended off a large-scale offensive of Al-Nusra Front (recently renamed to Fatah al-Sham Front) in Northeastern Homs, killing and wounding a large number of terrorists.

The Al-Nusra Front launched a massive attack on the government forces’ positions from regions near the villages of Ein al-Hossein and al-Aemriyeh towards the villages of Ein al-Dananir and Tal al-Qatari, but failed to break through the army positions.

The army soldiers repelled the Al-Nusra attack and forced them to pull the remaining pockets of its forces back from the battlefield after hours of heavy clashes.

Meantime, the Syrian Army units deployed in areas South-West of Homs province engaged in an intense battle with a large group of ISIL terrorists who had left the Al-Qalamoun North-East of Damascus province to join their comrades in Palmyra battlefields in Eastern Homs.

The army troops in Southwestern Homs regions that border the Damascus province traced the movement of tens of ISIL terrorists who had left their positions in al-Qalamoun region in Northeastern Damascus to join their comrades over a 100 miles away to the East in Palmyra that are retreating from the region.

The army units inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists and drove them back from Southwestern Homs territories, aborting their planned movement.

A field source in Homs province said that ISIL suffered heavy defeats in Palmyra and is now fueling war in al-Mokhram and Jubb al-Jarrah by rocket attacks on villages in the region.

The source added that ISIL also has stormed several military posts of the army in Tal al-Qatari region to cut off the road from al-Salamiyah in Hama to Homs to cover its heavy defeats in Palmyra.

Reports said earlier on Sunday that the army soldiers continued to hit ISIL’s positions Southeast of the newly-liberated city of Palmyra (Tadmur), capturing the city’s military airports with the aerial back up of the country’s Air Force.

The army troops engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL terrorists in the Southeastern outskirts of Palmyra and seized back the city’s military airport and an area stretching over 2km North of the airport, killing and wounding a number of militants.

Local sources said that the army men then clashed with ISIL terrorists in a region near the wheat silos and continued to advance against the terrorists towards the Northeastern outskirts of Palmyra.

The sources added that simultaneous with ground forces’ advances, the Syrian Air Force and the army’s artillery and missile units targeted ISIL’s positions and concentration centers near the wheat silos and near the two oilfields of al-Sha’er and Jazal Northwest of Palmyra.

Tens of ISIL terrorists were killed and several command posts, positions and military vehicles were destroyed in the attacks.

Aleppo

The Syrian Army troops continued their rapid advances against ISIL in Eastern Aleppo, capturing three more towns in the region.

The Syrian pro-government forces deployed in their positions in Qasr al-Hadleh, Tal Ma’ez and al-Attawiyeh stormed ISIL’s defense lines in the towns of Samiyeh, Khirbet Ashini and al-Saqiyeh, driving terrorists out of the three towns.

Army reports said the ISIL suffered tens of casualties in the attack.

A military source in Northern Syria said that the army forces have stretched control to areas 12km from al-Khafseh strategic town, adding the liberation of the towns of Abu Khatar, Khorjis, al-Attijeh, al-Salmeh, al-As’adiyeh and Rasm al-Dawali now stands atop the Syrian soldiers’ agenda.

Earlier reports said that the army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL in Eastern Aleppo and managed to take control over the towns and farms of al-Qasra, al-Rashidiyeh, al-Fatehiyeh and Jubb al-Abyadh, inching closer to al-Khafseh, the nearest town to the Assad Lake, which is the main source of drinking water of Aleppo city and its outskirts.

Tens of ISIL terrorists were killed and two tanks, two bomb-laden vehicles and several military vehicles were destroyed in the attack.

A field source said that the army troops have deployed forces 13km away from al-Khafseh after the recent advances that included winning control over the villages of Qasr al-Hadleh, al-Attawiyeh and Abu Jadeh.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops continued to hit ISIL terrorists’ movements and positions badly in the Southern outskirts of Deir Ezzur to lift the siege on the city’s airbase with the back up of the Russian and Syrian warplanes.

The army’s artillery units targeted ISIL’s positions in al-Maqaber (cemetery), al-Baqaliyeh village, Hatleh region, al-Sina’ah neighborhood, West of Tal (hill) al-Sonouf, Tal al-Rawad and al-Roshdiyeh neighborhood, killing and wounding a number of terrorists and destroying several vehicles.

In the meantime, the Russian and Syrian warplanes carried out continued attacks on ISIL’s positions in the villages of al-Mariyeh and al-Jafreh near Deir Ezzur’s airbase.

ISIL’s positions in the villages of Ayash and al-Baqaliyeh came under heavy air raids in the Western outskirts of Deir Ezzur city.

Dara’a

The Syrian Army soldiers engaged in heavy fighting with Al-Nusra Front (recently renamed to Fatah al-Sham Front) terrorists in the Southern part of Dara’a city, and captured several key residential complexes in the city.

The army troops stormed Al-Nusra’s positions in Dara’a al-Balad district, pushing terrorist back from a number of residential complexes.

The army units, meantime, targeted the movements and concentration centers of Al-Nusra in al-Mesri square and the neighborhoods of al-Karak and al-Arbaeen in Dara’a city, killing a number of militants.

In the meantime, the army soldiers targeted and destroyed several military vehicles of Al-Nusra terrorists on the road to Dara’a al-Balad.

Hama-Idlib

The Syrian Army troops and Air Force launched heavy strikes on the positions and movements of the Al-Nusra Front (Fatah al-Sham Front) in Northern Hama and Southern Idlib, killing and wounding a large number of terrorists, including a field commander.

Al-Nusra’s field commander Ahmad al-Tawil was killed in the heavy shelling of the army’s artillery units in al-Tamanna town and its surrounding regions in Northern Hama.

Seven more militants of the Al-Nusra were killed or injured and two military vehicles were destroyed in the artillery attack in al-Tamanna.

The army units, meantime, targeted terrorists’ concentration centers and movements in the villages of Taybat al-Imam, Lahaya, Ma’arkabeh, Kafr Zita and Kafr Naboudeh in Northern Hama, leaving a large number of militants dead or wounded and two of their vehicles destroyed.

The army aircraft targeted several vehicles of Al-Nusar in Sarmada town in Northern Idlib, killing five terrorists.
