Syrian PM Al-Halqi Offers Condolences Over Chavez’s Death

20130307-172905_h471180 (1)Delegated by President Bashar al-Assad, Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi offered condolences over the death of the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez at the Venezuelan embassy in Damascus on Thursday.

The Premier wrote a phrase in the condolences record, saying ”With deep pain and sorrow, we received the news of the passing away of a great national fighter and a prominent figure, President Hugo Chavez who defended the rights of people everywhere in the world.”

Al-Halqi added that Chavez always defended the national causes and played a leading role in backing the Non-Aligned Movement, adding that President Chavez was the leader of a great revolution that has imprinted itself on the minds of freedom-lovers.

He added that Syria will always remember Chavez’s stances in support of Syria against the global conspiracy targeting it and his unswerving support for the Palestinian cause, as well as his position on the cause of the occupied Syrian Golan.

Al-Halqi expressed trust that the friendly bilateral relations will remain strong in various domains, adding that Venezuela will follow the path charted by the late leader and will keep the revolution alive.

Al-Halqi hoped that Venezuela would realize its aspirations and go ahead with supporting the freedom of peoples in Latin America and the world, adding that the late president will always be remembered as a prominent figured who earned international respect.

The Regional Leadership of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party said the passing away of the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is a great loss for the Venezuelan people and all freedom lovers in the world.

The Regional Leadership offered in a statement on Thursday deep condolences to the friendly Venezuelan people over the death of President Chavez, expressing trust that the Venezuelan people will follow in the footsteps of the late president.

”The Syrian people, who is facing a brutal aggression backed by the powers of hegemony highly appreciates the role of the late president and his struggle in Venezuela, Latin America and the world,” the statement said.
