The newly-elected prime minister of Syria’s so-called opposition interim government has ruled out dialog with the Damascus government.
In his first speech after being chosen by Syria’s opposition coalition, Ghassan Hitto said in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Tuesday that there will be no dialog between the opposition and the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

He also said that the interim government will set its headquarteres in militant-held territories in northern Syria and urged international community to recognize the opposition government.

Hitto, a naturalized American citizen, moved from Texas to Turkey last November to help coordinate military aid to areas held by the foreign-backed militants.

Hours after Hitto was elected, militants fighting against the Syrian government fired chemical weapons into a village in the northern city of Aleppo. At least 25 people were killed and scores of others injured in the attack. Women and children are reported to be among the victims.

Militants, who had threatened to use chemical weapons against the army government forces and Assad supporters a few months ago, have denied using chemical weapons and have accused government forces of being behind the attack.

But Russian foreign ministry says it has information that militants were responsible for the chemical attack, adding that their use of weapons of mass destruction has taken the confrontation in Syria to a new stage.
