Syrian troops inflict heavy losses on Takfiri militants

Syrian government forces have carried out large-scale mop-up operations against foreign-backed Takfiri militants across the conflict-ridden Arab country, delivering heavy blows to them.

A military source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Syrian army soldiers managed to seize control of Nasrallah village in Syria’s northwestern province of Aleppo on Saturday following intense clashes with Takfiri Daesh militants.

A large number of the extremists were killed in the process.

Bomb disposal units later defused dozens of bombs and improvised explosive devices planted by Daesh terrorists across the village.

Additionally, Syrian army forces raided a Daesh position in the town of al-Qaryatain, situated 85 kilometers (52 miles) southeast of Syria’s central city of Homs, killing an unspecified number of the extremists.

Elsewhere in the town of al-Latamna in the western-central province of Hama, Syrian fighter jets attacked the positions of the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front militant group, destroying several pickup trucks that had heavy machine guns mounted on them.

Syrian troops also launched an offensive in al-Tamanaa town in the northwestern province of Idlib, killing a number of terrorists with the so-called Jaish al-Fatah (the Army of Conquest) and destroying their ammunition.

Moreover, a Nusra Front militant commander, identified by the nom de guerre, Abu Julaybib al-Urduni, was killed in a bombing attack in Syria’s southwestern province of Dara’a.

Syrian army soldiers, backed by fighters from allied popular defense groups, also established full control over Rwaisat al-Hamidah and Katef al-Zayara villages, located nearly 50 kilometers (31 miles) northeast of Syria’s western port city of Latakia.

The foreign-sponsored conflict in Syria, which flared in March 2011, has claimed the lives of more than 250,000 people and left over one million injured, according to the United Nations.

The world body says 12.2 million people, including more than 5.6 million children, remain in need of humanitarian assistance. The foreign-sponsored militancy has displaced 7.6 million people.
