In an interview with Press TV on Wednesday, Randy Short, a human rights activist, described the foreign-sponsored militants in Syria as “sociopathic,” “liars,” “killers” and “rapists.”
The analyst argued that the states who provide support to “terrorist” groups in Syria “think they can unleash them in one place, and that their character will change when they are dealing” with their backers.
Short noted: “They are ungrateful. They are very dangerous people and Lebanon, the United States, Turkey, anybody that deals with them will be burned by their fire.”
On November 27, former Lebanese Prime Minister Michel Aoun told Press TV that foreign-backed Takfiri extremists pose a great threat to all the religious communities living in Syria and the Middle East.
A recent British defense study shows that about 100,000 foreign-backed militants, fragmented into 1,000 groups, are fighting in Syria against the government and people.
The study by defense consultancy IHS Jane’s estimates that some 10,000 militants are fighting for groups affiliated with al-Qaeda such as al-Nusra Front and the rest fight for different militant groups.
