Tehran calls for expansion of ties with Madrid

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Europe and the Americas, Majid Takht Ravanchi, in a meeting with the Spanish Deputy Foreign Minister, has called for expansion of relations between Tehran and Madrid.

According to an IRIB report, Iran’s Deputy foreign minister, Takht Ravanchi, in a meeting with Spain’s Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of Maghreb, Africa, the Mediterranean and the near East, Manuel Gomez, called for expansion of relations between Iran and Spain. Takht Ravanchi emphasized that as far as Iran is concerned, there is no limit to expansion of relations between Tehran and Madrid.

At this meeting, Takht Ravanchi explained the peaceful and completely transparent nature of all of Iran’s nuclear activities, and briefed the Spanish deputy foreign minister on the Geneva negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 Group. Takht Ravanchi emphasized that European countries should implement the interim Geneva accord, and should honour all of their commitments. Iran’s Deputy foreign minister stressed that no one should undertake action which would go against the spirit or the letter of the Geneva accord.

Spain’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Manuel Gomez, for his part, emphasized that Spain fully backs the Geneva accord, and that this agreement can lay the groundwork for expansion of relations between Tehran and Madrid.
