Tehran-Moscow ties vital for region

Head of Iran-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mehdi Sanaei, said on Saturday that the friendly ties between Tehran and Moscow are of paramount importance for the Middle East region.

“We have discussed this issue in our separate meetings with the Russian officials in Moscow,” he told reporters in Moscow.

Sanaei pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia would cooperate to help resolve regional issues such as Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan.

“In our meetings with the Russian officials we mentioned that Russia should avoid following the policies of the West and US,” he added.

Sanaei noted that the long-term interests of Tehran and Moscow require both countries to avoid stepping in the footprints of the West, especially the US.
