A collection of artworks on Gaza tragedy created by international cartoonists has been displayed at Tehran’s Palestine Museum of Contemporary Art.

Some 80 cartoons with the theme of the Israeli war on Gaza have been showcased at the exhibition titled Gaza through the Eyes of World Cartoonists.

Brazil, Cuba, Lebanon, Turkey, Germany, and Spain are among the participated countries.

Organized by the Visual Arts of Revolution and Sacred Defense Association, the exhibition kicked off on August 12 and will run until August 28.

Iran’s House of Cartoon (IHC) has also programmed to hold an international competition of cartoon on Israeli’s assaults on Gaza.

The contest will be held in two sections of cartoon and portrait caricature, IHC director Masoud Shojaei Tabatabaie announced.

The participants of cartoon section are required to focus on three subjects including The massacre in Gaza, the companionship of Arab sheikhs and the United States in Gaza tragedy and Silence of the international media.

Portraits of world politicians such as Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, David Cameron, and Francois Hollande are also the major theme of the caricature section.

Israel has been pounding the Gaza Strip since July 8. Israeli forces also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian territory.

Over 1,940 Palestinians, including 470 children, have lost their lives since the Israeli military unleashed fatal assaults on the densely-inhabited strip.

Figures show more than 22 Palestinian children and youths have been killed by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank over the past month. Most of them were shot dead during continuous protest rallies against the Israeli onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip.
