Terror Regime fires shells on Gaza Strip, wounding 3 people

The Israeli military has fired a volley of shells on the northern Gaza Strip, wounding at least three people, in yet another act of aggression against the besieged Palestinian enclave.

Some of the shells hit a post of Ezzedeen al-Qassam Brigades, which is the military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, in Beit Lahia during the early hours of Sunday, the Jerusalem Postreported, citing Palestinian security sources.

The Israeli military claimed that the overnight assault was in retaliation for an alleged gunfire by Hamas aimed at its forces along the border between the Palestinian enclave and Israel.

The Israeli shells also inflicted damage on a storage tank in the town of Beit Hanoun in the same area.

Last month, the Israeli regime also conducted dozens of strikes in Gaza in response to alleged rocket fire by Hamas, a far larger response than usual.

Israel launched its latest war on the Gaza Strip in early July 2014. The 50-day military aggression, which ended on August 26, 2014, killed nearly 2,200 Palestinians, including 577 children. Over 11,100 others, including 3,374 children, 2,088 women and 410 elderly people, were also wounded in the war.

Israel continues to carry out attacks on the Palestinian enclave from time to time.

Israeli fighter jets also frequently bomb Gaza. The Israeli military also uses drones over the impoverished region either to monitor and photograph Palestinian military units in the blockaded coastal enclave, or launch aerial attacks against targets.

Gaza has been under an Israeli siege since June 2007. The blockade has caused a decline in the standard of living as well as unprecedented levels of unemployment and unrelenting poverty.
