Military sources said on Sunday that the Syrian artillery units heavily pounded positions of the ISIL terrorist group in the Western regions of Deir Ezzur province, as they fended off an ISIL offensive on Army positions in the city of Deir Ezzur.

Sources said that the Syrian artillery units severely shelled the militants’ positions in al-Thayyem Oil-field’s power plant which is still under the control of ISIL terrorists, destroying terrorists’ military grid including a Bulldozer, used by the ISIL to erect fortifications in the region.

Reports said three terrorists inside a Bulldozer were killed after the Syrian artillery units manage to trace and hit ISIL’s machinery in the region.

Meanwhile, Syrian Army forces repulsed an ISIL assault on their positions in the Hawija Saker (Saker Island) from Harabesh district in Southern Deir Ezzur and killed a number of militants.

“The ISIL terrorists in an attempt to capture the key village of al-Huquf, north of the city of Sweida, attacked army troop’s positions in the region, but were pushed back after losing fighters,” a military source said.

Yesterday, Syrian air force and artillery units, in a series of intensive attacks, pounded the ISIL militants’ positions in Deir Ezzur province, eliminating tens of terrorists and inflicting damage on them.

“The ISIL positions in two districts of al-Hwaiqa and al-Ummal were razed as Syrian fighter jets pounded the military positions and gathering centers of the ISIL in the city of Deir Ezzur and village of al-Hatla in the Eastern parts of the province, which also resulted in the destruction of the terrorist group’s equipment and vehicles,” a battlefield source said.

The Syrian army also hit several ISIL gatherings in Burj al-Mustafa, inflicting heavy casualties on them.

Also on Saturday, the Syrian artillery units pounded a power plant in al-Thayyem oilfield, causing rather heavy casualties among the terrorists in the region.
