Terrorists’ days in Syria numbered: Iran Majlis Speaker

Iran Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani said on Thursday that Iran and Russia played a big part in fighting terrorism, as today terrorists’ days in Syria are numbered.

In a meeting with the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin, Larijani slammed the United States for pressing Iran and Russia and imposing sanctions on them.

Larijani, who is in the southwest Russian city of Volgograd at the head of a delegation, added that Tehran and Moscow played a crucial role in the fight against terrorism.

Noting that Iran and Russia have held talks on an array of issues, Larijani hoped for ‘more practical steps to be taken in the beautiful city of Volgograd.’

Since changes are taking place in the US behaviors, Iran and Russian should have closer consultations, he said.

He went on to hail the good cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transportation and agriculture.

The next meeting will be held in Tehran on seeking ways to foster new parliamentary cooperation, Larijani said.

Volodin, for his part, said that the visit to Russia by the Iranian delegation will certainly help promote engagements between the two nations.

Currently, relations between Iran and Russia are enhancing but what is important is that the decisions be discussed at parliamentary proportions to become laws, he said, calling for broadening of parliamentary cooperation.

Larijani is in Volgograd to attend the Iran-Russian Parliamentary Meeting expected to be held in Volgograd on September 7.
