Terrorists Defect Tahrir Al-Sham amid Intensified Infighting among Rival Groups

A large number of terrorists cut off ties with Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) and joined the newly-formed Syria’s Tahrir Front in Northern Idlib, field sources reported on Sunday.

The sources said that Al-Aswad al-Islam Battalion, affiliated to Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at, defected the group and joined Ahrar al-Sham that formed Syria’s Tahrir Front together with Nouralddeen al-Zinki in Northern Idlib a couple of days ago.

In the meantime, the Arabic-language al-Watan daily reported that the fighters of Syria’s Tahrir Front captured the village of Kalali after fierce clashes with Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at in Northern Idlib.

Al-Watan further said that the Syria’ Tahrir Front has managed to take control over a large part of Southern Idlib with Ankara’s financial back up.

Local sources reported, meantime, that Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at has sent a large number of fighters to al-Karasi region and its nearby hills opposite the positions of the Euphrates Shield forces after infighting expanded in Northern Idlib and reached the town of Atmah.

Abdullah Muhammad al-Muhaysini, the former Saudi commander and Mufti (religious leader) of Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) admitted earlier today that infighting between Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at and Syria’s Tahrir Front inflicted heavy casualties on both warring sides in the provinces of Idlib and Aleppo.

Al-Muhaysini said that a sum of 250 gunmen have been killed or wounded in fierce clashes between Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at and Syria’s Tahrir Front in Idlib and Aleppo in the last five days.

Abu al-Abd al-Shada’a, who is in charge of financial affairs in Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at, has promised bonus and reward to boost the morale of their fighters after Syria’s Tahrir Front’s advances against them in several regions.
