Terrorists Violates again De-Escalation Zones Agreement in Syria’s Aleppo

The sources said that despite a safe zone covering the region, the al-Qaeda-affiliated Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at fired 40 GRAD missiles on an unidentified village in Southern Aleppo.

Tahrir al-Sham has not agreed to the Astana talks which guaranteed no airstrikes over Idlib and Aleppo in return for the cessation of hostilities.

Nevertheless, the Syrian Army and its allies are likely to retaliate on militant-held positions.

A footage showed that the GRAD missiles landed all over the village and its nearby areas, hitting civilian cars passing on a road in the region.

In relevant developments but in Homs province on Monday, the Syrian Army troops targeted the defense lines of the terrorist groups after the latter violated the De-Escalation Zones Agreement by shelling the pro-government forces’ positons in Northern Homs.

The sources said that the terrorist groups’ missile units deployed in al-Qantou region shelled the village of Jabourin in Northwestern Homs and breached the newly-implemented De-Escalation Agreement, adding that the army’s mortar units shelled terrorists’ centers in the region in retaliation for their attack.

According to a text detailing the agreement published by the Russian foreign ministry on Sunday, Russia, Turkey and Iran agreed in a memorandum signed on May 4 to establish four separate de-escalation zones in Syria for at least six months.

The largest de-escalation zone includes Idlib province and adjoining districts of Hama, Aleppo and Lattakia provinces, AMN website reported.

The other three zones are in Northern Homs province, the Eastern Ghouta region East of the capital Damascus and along the Jordanian border in Southern Syria.

The guarantors will finalize maps of the de-escalation zones by June 4, and the agreement can be extended automatically if the three guarantor states agree.

The agreement envisages the halt of hostilities between Syrian government forces and armed opposition groups within the zones and the creation of conditions for humanitarian access, medical assistance, the return of displaced civilians to their homes and the restoration of damaged infrastructure.

The guarantor states committed to take all the necessary measures to continue fighting ISIL, al-Nusra Front, also known as Fatah al-Sham Front, and other groups both within and beyond the de-escalation zones.
