The Syrian Army and the country’s popular forces raided the militant groups in the Northern part of Lattakia province and captured Jabal al-Sayyid, military sources said Friday.

The Syrian army, National Defense Forces (NDF) and other popular fighters imposed full control over Jabal al-Sayyid after a heavy battle with al-Nusra Front and the Free Syrian Army (FSA), the sources said.

“The Syrian Armed Forces captured Jabal al-Sayyid after killing over 20 enemy combatants,” the sources added.

“The Syria government forces’ operation caused the terrorist groups to withdraw towards the Northern mountainside of Jabal al-Turkmen,” they went on to say.

The Syrian government forces have advanced against the militant groups across the mountainous regions in Northern and Northeastern parts of the coastal province, including along border with Turkey.

On Wednesday, the Syrian army and the NDF retook Ruwaysat al-Deibat from the terrorists.

“The militant groups were forced by the army and the NDF to retreat from Ruwaysat al-Deibat, leaving behind many dead or wounded members,” the sources said.

“The Syrian government force took full control over the position of the militants in the battlefront and seized a large volume of their ammunition,” the sources added.

“Some of the army soldiers sustained injuries in the attack,”

“The army is fortifying its new positions to defense possible counter-attacks of the militants,” they went on to say.
