Thousands of Moroccans protest regime corruption

Thousands protested in Imzouren against corruption, misuse of authority and police brutality on Sunday night in ongoing unrest as they demanded the release of detained activist Naser Al-Zafrani.

Al-Zafrani has been a key figure calling for strikes and leading the wave of demonstrations in the area for around six months.

The Rif region has been shaken by the wave of unrest, initially prompted by the death of a local fisherman last October who was crushed to death by a truck while attempting to retrieve fish confiscated by police officers.
