Thousands of Palestinians participated in massive marches staged in the 1948 occupied territories and the Gaza Strip on Friday afternoon in protest at the intended Israeli ban on the use of loudspeakers to recite Adhan (call to prayer).

Several marches were organized following the Friday prayer in Nazareth, Taibeh and different Palestinian towns in the Galilee, the Negev and other 1948 occupied areas.

The participants carried placards and banners, and chanted slogans denouncing the Israeli intent to ban mosques from using loudspeakers to recite Adhan in Jerusalem and other occupied areas.

Similar marches were also organized by the Hamas Movement on the same day in the northern and central districts of the Gaza Strip.

Several Hamas officials participated in the marches, during which some of them gave speeches condemning the Knesset anti-Adhan bill and urging the Arab and Muslim nations to take urgent action to protect the Aqsa Mosque.
