‘Thousands of Saudi terrorists fighting in Syria under al-Qaeda umbrella’

Syria’s Foreign Ministry has sent separate letters to the UN secretary general and the chairman of the UN Security Council, protesting the constant interference by Saudi Arabia in Syria’s internal affairs.
The ministry said on Monday that that the ultra-conservative kingdom continues to support terrorist groups in Syria through arming, funding and sending logistic equipment to the extremists.
It added that that the Saudis were trying to spread Takfiri ideas through satellite channels in an attempt to legitimize terrorism in Syria.
The presence of Islamic holy sites in Saudi Arabia facilitates recruiting thousands of foreign extremists and send them to fight in Syria, it said.
The Ministry said that recently, the Saudi intelligence, represented by Prince Bandar Bin Sultan, reactivate terrorists groups affiliated to al-Qaeda and increased logistic support to them, noting that Saudi intelligence organization had sponsored the creation of al-Qaeda and supported it for many years.
Saudi intelligence also coordinated opening of borders of neighboring countries in a bid to allow militants who trained in these countries to cross into Syria, the letters said.
The letters pointed out that thousands of Saudi terrorists who are fighting in Syria under the umbrella of the terrorist group al-Nusra Front and Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
Syria said that its data show that the number of Saudi terrorists in Syria increased in recent months dramatically, with most of them belonging al-Qaeda.
According to the ministry, over 300 Saudi terrorists have been uprooted in Syria.
The letters affirmed that the Saudi intelligence agency and terrorist pawns in Syria bear the greatest responsibility for shedding Syrian blood through their complicity in carrying out terrorist crimes against civilians, infrastructure, state establishments, hospitals, public and private establishments like schools, mosques and churches.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and millions of others displaced in the violence.
According to reports, Western powers and their regional allies, especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
