Three killed, a dozen injured in Pakistan Ashura bombing

At least three people have been killed and a dozen others injured in a bomb attack during commemorating the Day of Ashura in northwest Pakistan.

According to Press TV, the bombing was carried out in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province early on Sunday when the procession was underway commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of The Third Infallible Heir of Propeht Mohammad (SAWA) Imam Hussein (PBUH).
Rescue and emergency teams were sent to the site of the bombing. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the attack, which was the second such incident in the district in less than two days.
On Saturday, a bomb attack targeted a similar procession in the district, killing seven Muslims, including four children, and injuring several others.
Security forces have been on high alert over fears of large-scale attacks on Shia Muslims across the country, as al-Qaeda-linked militants have threatened to carry out more attacks against Shias.
Heavily armed militants have targeted similar religious ceremonies in different regions of Pakistan over the past days.
According to Pakistani intelligence information, more such attacks have been planned for the coming days in the capital city of Islamabad, Karachi and Quetta.
