Top cleric hails Supreme Leader’s support of negotiating team

Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi described Ayatollah Khamenei’s support of the President Rouhani’s administration and the Iranian negotiating team as a “very important” in the recent achievement of an agreement with the P5+1 group of countries over Iran’s nuclear program.

Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi met with the head of President Hassan Rouhani’s Chief of Staff, Dr Mohammad Nahavandian.

His Eminence expressed his satisfaction on Iran’s recently reached agreement on the nuclear issue with the P5+1 group of countries. He said the issue was very complex and difficult and added that he constantly supplicated for the success of negotiators to reach an appropriate conclusion of the negotiations during his daily prayers.

The revered source of emulation expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Iranian negotiating team and congratulated them on their “great victory” which has made the Zionist regime’s antagonism against Iran ineffective and has caused them visible despair and frustration.

Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi said the entire world welcomed this deal and the Zionists have paid a heavy price for their opposition to it and they also feel a heavy sense of betrayal from the international community due to its success. “A successful implementation of the agreement [on Iran’s behalf] will strengthen the Zionists’ despair,” he said.

He advised the government to provide the public with clear information about the details of the achievements of the nuclear agreement reached with the P5+1, just as they had released essential information during the negotiation process. “This is so that they can revive a number of various motives and increase the people’s happiness, as well as their trust in their government officials,” he said.

The renowned seminary professor also warned that the increased expectations among the people as a result of the agreement must be managed and resolved quickly and any remaining problems that have or will be created must also be given emphasis.

Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi described the support of the Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, for the administration of President Hassan Rouhani and the Iranian negotiating team as “very important.”

He added that a few people had expressed opposition to the agreement but the wise planning of the Supreme Leader and his timely support of the negotiating team “paved the way for the attainment of respect for Islamic system and the Iranian people.”
