Truce with Tel Aviv very shaky: Islamic Jihad

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement has warned that the truce with Israel in the Gaza Strip is very shaky following the killing of three Palestinians in an Israeli drone attack in the besieged coastal enclave.

The military wing of the movement, the al-Quds Brigades, issued a statement on Wednesday, saying it will respond to the assassination of its members by the Israeli regime.

Palestine’s Islamic Jihad said that the fragile truce with Israel in Gaza is in its final stages and is likely to collapse.

The statement was made in response to the killing of three members of the Islamic Jihad near the city of Rafah, situated 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of Gaza City, on Tuesday.

The Israeli military launches frequent attacks on the besieged Palestinian territory, claiming the raids are being conducted for ‘defensive purposes.’ However, disproportionate force is always used, in violation of international law, and civilians are often killed or injured.

On March 3, one Palestinian was killed and three others injured in an Israeli airstrike on the northern Gaza Strip.

The truce between Israel and the Palestinian movement of Hams, that controls Gaza, took effect in November 2012. The truce was mediated by Egypt following Israel’s eight day war on the coastal enclave.
