Trump Fails to Reach His Goal behind Bahrain Conference: Islamic Jihad

A spokesman for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement said US President Donald Trump failed to reach his goal behind organizing a recent gathering in Bahrain.

“We should not call the Manama workshop a conference because… Donald Trump wanted it to be a conference attended by top leaders of the region, but failed to bring real leaders to the conference,” Davoud Shihab said in an interview with the Tasnim News Agency.

“The meeting was held with the aim of eliminating the Palestinian issue and is regarded as a ring of a long chain (of policies) that the US and the Israeli regime are pursuing in an effort to strengthen the presence of Israel in the region and boost its security and economic levels,” he noted.

However, remarks by Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, at the conference have ended up to his detriment because the Arab and Islamic nations, and in particular the Palestinian people, will never accept this poisoned cake (the deal of the century), he went on to say.

The deal of century ploy, fronted by Jared Kushner, has already been rejected by the Palestinians, who say the White House’s policies have been blatantly biased in favor of Israel.

Palestinians have cut off all contacts with the Trump administration since the president broke with decades of bipartisan policy to recognize al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel in December 2017.

Bahrain hosted the conference on June 25 and 26 to encourage what it calls investment in the West Bank and Gaza Strip as part of Trump’s plan for Palestine.

The US-organized gathering was boycotted by numerous Palestinian groups and business leaders.
