Tunisia elections, revival of Islamic law

Islamic Republic of Iran parliament speaker Ali Larijani congratulated Tunisian Muslims on their victory in the Tunisian elections, adding the vote shows the nation was moving towards Islamic law.

The Iranian speaker was speaking to an open session of the parliament Tuesday morning.

He said the developments in the Muslim countries in the past year were exceptional and hopeful for the world of Islam, adding that the West has got confused on what stance to take in this regard.

Mr. Larijani said Tunisia was the first country to hoist the flag of Islamic awakening and rose up against tyranny and now it is again the forerunner in laying a system of government anew following a revolution.

“This is the last nail in the coffin of ill-thought analyses concerning the nature of the recent revolutions,” he added.
