Tunisians hold mass rally against terrorism

Following the March 18 terror attack by ISIL militants on the Bardo Meusum which left 21 foreign tourists and a Tunisian officer dead, the authorities organized an International March against terrorism. Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of the capital city Tunis.

Foreign Leaders and diplomats joined Tunisia’s president, Parliament speaker and Prime Minister. Many lawmakers say the North African state needs financial support instead of empty promises to succeed in its war on terrorism

Thousands of citizens expressed concerns over the presence of terror cells in the North African country.

However, security forces reassured protesters that they will not tolerate any terrorist activities on Tunisian soil

The Interior minister declared that the anti-terror brigade, National Guard units and the army are on alert across the country to neutralize terror sleeper cells

About 10 Takfiri militants were killed in the early hours of Sunday in the Southern city of Gafsa and the North Western region of El Kef. The authorities have deployed over 10.000 officers to secure the Sunday March to prevent any terror attacks.
