Erdogan has mobilized the Turkish military in the town of Silopi on the Iraqi border and warns the Shia-led Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) against liberating the Turkmen town of Tel Afar from ISIS.

PressTV have reported that while Erdogan was speaking to reporters at a reception marking the country’s Republic Day in Ankara on Saturday, he said that Turkey “would not look favorably” if the PMU entered the ethnic Turkmen town of Tal Afar, located close to Mosul.

He went on to vow “a different response” if the PMU entered the town, which was overran by ISIS in 2014.

The town is essential for linking ISIS’ de facto capital of Raqqah in Syria to Mosul.

For the more than two years that ISIS have occupied Tel Afar, Erdogan has never stated to liberate it.
