Turkish TV channel ATV fined for ‘spreading lies’ against Iran

The Radio and Television Supreme Council – RTÜK, has fined ATV TL 267,000 ($ 150,000) for spreading lies against Iran.
A day after the Iranian embassy in Ankara sent a letter of objection for airing ATV drama series, ‘The Valley of Wolves,’ RTÜK announced that it has fined ‘ATV live TV’.

In the letter, Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini wrote that “the TV drama has represented an abhorrent image of Iranian Consulate and diplomats in Istanbul through abstract events accounted in the drama, which are false and unreal.”

Hosseini assessed the act as ‘improper for friendly relations between two countries,’ and demanded his Turkish counterparts to “walk in the path to solidarity between Iran and Turkey’s Muslim nations.”
