Turkey Reinvigorating Military Buildup in Northern Syria

The Turkish Army has dispatched more military equipment to Hama and Idlib provinces amid the Syrian Army’s preparation for its major anti-terrorism operation in Northwestern Syria, an Arab media outlet reported on Monday.

The Arabic-language al-Manar TV reported that the Turkish army forwarded a military convoy, comprising of several tanks and missile launch-pads to its truce-monitoring posts in Northern Syria via Kafr Losin crossing at Turkey-Syria border.

In the meantime, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that a military convoy, consisting of tens of vehicles, military hardware, ammunition and Turkish soldiers, arrived in Northern Syria via Bab al-Hawa crossing at Turkey-Syria border in a move to reinvigorate the Ankara army’s military capabilities.

Also, field sources reported that the Turkish army has dispatched a large volume of military equipment to its border with Northern Syria.

Field sources reported that the Syrian Army’s artillery and missile units and aircraft have been pounding terrorists’ positions in Northern Hama and Southern Idlib to pave the way for an imminent large-scale operation in Northern Hama and Southern Idlib.

Opposition activists reported on Sunday that a massive Turkish military convoy entered Idlib province in Northwestern Syria from the Hatay province.

According to the Syrian opposition activists, the Turkish military convoy consisted of more than 300 vehicles, including tanks, MLRS launchers and BMPs, the AMN reported.

The Turkish military convoy reportedly entered Syria through the Kafr Losin Crossing on Saturday night, heading towards the rebel front-lines in the Idlib and Hama provinces.

Some opposition activists have claimed that the Turkish military was heading to Idlib with Man-Portable Air-Defense System (MANPADS), if true, would mean that they are preparing to down any Syrian warplane flying over their positions.
