Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is due to arrive in the Iranian capital hours before the summit of the Group of 15 developing countries kicks off in Tehran.

According to Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast, Davutoglu will arrive in Tehran late Sunday to attend the 14th summit of the G15 which is due to start on Monday.

“The Turkish foreign minister will arrive in Tehran at midnight,” IRNA quoted Mehmanparast as saying on Sunday.

Earlier reports had said that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan would make a visit to Tehran on Sunday to hold a trilateral meeting with Iranian and Brazilian presidents to find solutions to the nuclear standoff.

Non-permanent United Nations Security Council members Brazil and Turkey have been pushing for a diplomatic end to the standoff over Iran’s nuclear issue.

Other government officials who are in Tehran to attend the G15 summit include Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade, and Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe.

Meanwhile, Mehmanparast added that a high-ranking four-member delegation from the Republic of Belarus was also scheduled to arrive in Tehran on Monday.

The G15, made up of countries from Asia, Africa, and Latin America, was established in 1989 with the aim of promoting economic growth and prosperity of member states.
