Turkish protesters are not terrorists

“There is no justification for the Turkish government to arrest protestors during a peaceful demonstration,” Al-Zaabi added.

Turkey’s interior minister said that during the protests, nearly 1,000 people were arrested in various cities across the country on Friday and Saturday.

Amnesty International today, in a report announced that during the violent crackdown on the popular protests by security forces in Turkey, two protesters have been killed and dozens of Erdoğan opponents have been injured during protests.

Al-Zaabi asserted that “Using force, violence and clashes with Turkish people are not correct, since these protesters are not terrorists.”

He urged the Turkish government to release prisoners of conscience, since there is no justification for arresting the demonstrators for peaceful protests.

Emran al-Zaabi said: “Erdogan still has the chance to stop the violence.”

Interestingly, this Syrian official was using similar phrases and sentences in his remarks against Turkey that Recep Tayyip Erdoğan used on the eve of the conflict in Syria against President Bashar al-Assad.
