Two new technical achievements unveiled by oil industry executives

Two new technical achievements were unveiled by oil industry executives helping self-sufficiency in the sector, the head of Research and Development Center for Iran’s central regions Oil Company said.Gholamhossein Montazeri explained the achievements in an interview with IRNA.

He declared the technical know-how to produce emulsion breaking materials as one of the two scientific achievements and added “oil industry will be self-sufficient in desalination of heavy oil by domestic production of the emulsion breaking agents.”

Among the most critical aspects of petroleum production, no matter what the production system, is separating produced crude from water and basic sediment which is fulfilled in an emulsion-breaking treatment.

The head of Research and Development Center for Iran’s central regions Oil Company cited a new nanosensor as the second technical know-how unveiled and added that the new nanosensor is used in gas facilities and plays an important role in all oil and gas facilities.

The methane nanosensor alarms any gas leak in the respective facilities. The sensor has been imported so far and now it is supposed to be produced domestically in near future, Dr. Montazeri pointed out.

He also noted that the project has passed through over 80 percent and hoped that mass production of methane nanosensor in Fars Electronic Company will start soon.

The scientific achievements were unveiled in the second festival ‘Science in Action’ in Tehran. The festival started on September 5 and ended on September 8.
