U.S-backed Syrian Terrorists Torturing Abducted Iranian Engineers to Make Confessions against Iran

The Syrian terrorists who abducted a group of Iranian engineers two weeks ago are seeking to link their inmates with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in a bid to blame Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah for unrests in Syria.

According to FNA dispatches from Damascus, abductors of the Iranian engineers intend to force the abductees to wear IRGC uniforms and confess that they are IRGC members and have come to Syria to stage an operation in collaboration with the Lebanese Hezbollah group.

The terrorists’ plan to take forced confession from the abducted engineers is part of a broader campaign against Iran and Hezbollah.

The group of engineers was abducted on December 20 en route to the 450-MW power plant they were involved in building in Homs at 6:30 a.m. local time.

The Iranian mission in Damascus has asked the Syrian government to take swift and immediate action to set the five engineers free and identify their abductors.

On Thursday, Iranian Ambassador to Damascus Mohammad Reza Sheibani in a meeting with Syrian top diplomat Walid Mualem asked the Syrian government to take swift and immediate action to release the five Iranian engineers.

During the meeting in Damascus, the two diplomats reviewed the latest developments and efforts made by the Syrian side to release the Iranian nationals from the hands of their kidnappers.

Mualem had earlier in a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi had assured Tehran of his country’s serious efforts to pursue the fate and secure the safe release of the five Iranian engineers.
