British Foreign Secretary William Hague has discussed Syria’s crisis with Qatari crown prince Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in a Doha meeting on Wednesday.

During Hague’s visit to the gas-rich country, the two “discussed cooperation between their countries as well as regional developments, mainly in Syria,” Qatar News Agency reported.

The meeting comes two days after Britain faced oppositions from European Union (EU) foreign ministers to lift the arms embargo against the Syrian terrorist groups.

Qatar, which had frequently voiced support for insurgents in Syria, criticized the European Union for refusing the embargo and described the move as a wrong decision.

Many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed in Syria since the unrest begins in March 2011.

The Syrian government has repeatedly accused Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey of fueling the unrest in the country by funding and arming terrorist groups.
