UK: Iran Attack Has “Enormous Downsides”

UK FM William Hague warned against Iran attack, saying that the attack on the Islamic Republic “has enormous downsides”.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph published Saturday, Hague said that striking at Iran would carry huge costs.
Hague told the paper that “we are not favoring the idea of anybody attacking Iran at the moment”.

We are very clear to all concerned that we are not advocating military action,” he said.

The FM also said that allowing Iran to proceed with its nuclear program would lead to a Cold War-style arms race in the Middle East.

“And so, the most serious round of nuclear proliferation since nuclear weapons were invented would have begun with all the destabilizing effects in the Middle East”, he said adding: “that would be a disaster for world affairs”.
