Ukrainians protest Israel aid attack

A large number of people have taken to the streets of the Ukrainian capital to decry Israel’s deadly attack on the Gaza-bound aid convoy.

The demonstrators marched toward the Israeli Embassy in Kiev to protest against the brutal attack that killed at least nine people onboard the Mavi Marmara, a Turkish flagship part of a six-boat convoy seeking to break the three-year Israeli blockade of the impoverished coastal enclave.

The procession then gathered outside the Turkish Embassy to honor the assault’s victims — eight of whom were Turkish citizens.

Defying the international condemnation of the Monday attack, Israel stormed another aid ship, the Rachel Corrie, in international waters on Saturday.

Protests also held rallies in England, Austria, Latin America, the United States, South Korea and New Zealand.

The densely-populated Gaza Strip has been under a crippling Israeli siege since 2007. The blockade prevents the entry of food, fuel, medicine and other necessary supplies into the war-ravaged coastal sliver.
