The Syrian Arab Army’s 63rd and 42 Brigades of the 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF), and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) – continued their advance at Al-Zabadani, capturing more territory from the Islamist rebel factions of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, the Free Syrian Army’s “Al-Zabadani Hawks Brigade”, and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group on Sunday morning.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance attacked Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra at the Al-Jisr Mosque in western Al-Zabadani; this powerful assault resulted in the capture of the aforementioned site after fierce clashes with the Islamist rebel factions.

The source added that the Al-Jisr Mosque was used by Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra as a housing quarter and base for their combatants; its capture has confined the Islamist rebels to two dozen street blocks near this resort-city’s downtown area.

Meanwhile, to the east of Al-Zasbadani, the Syrian Arab Army and National Defense Forces made significant progress at the imperative city of Darayya after capturing five more building blocks from the Islamist rebel group “Ajnad Al-Sham” inside the Darayya Association Quarter.

Recently, the Islamist rebels have shifted their focus from the West Ghouta to the East Ghouta of the Rif Dimashq Governorate; this comes after repeated attempts by Ajnad Al-Sham to take complete control of the entire city of Darayya.
