On Sunday morning, the Syrian Arab Army – backed by the National Defense Forces and Hezbollah – broke through Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham (Falcons of the Levant Brigade) defenses and overran their positions, resulting in the latter’s subsequent withdrawal from Al-Malaah Farms, located west of the Handarat District in northeast Aleppo. Following the capture of Al-Malaah Farms, the SAA, Hezbollah, and NDF pushed their way through the neighboring Mara’ashli Farms and asserted their control over this area approximately 2 hours later.

Continuing their success in northeast Aleppo, the SAA advanced into the rebel-held stronghold of Camp Handarat after infiltrating from its southern corridor before staking their position inside the deserted camp. If the SAA can capture Handarat Camp; this could result in the complete withdrawal of Islamic Front (Jabhat Al-Islamiyya) forces in this strategic area that has been under the latter’s control for over 2 years.

The Al-Nusra Front (Jabhat Al-Nusra) has officially withdrawn from the Al-Zahra Quarter in west Aleppo after sustaining significant casualties and a scarcity of supplies that affected their fighters entrenched in this area. For the Al-Nusra Front, their withdrawal from the Al-Zahra Quarter is a decisive blow to their morale, as this area was imperative to their siege of west Aleppo. According to a military source in Aleppo, the Al-Nusra Front militants completely deserted their positions near the Air Force Intelligence building, leaving only cartons of ammunition and small weapons behind.
