US-backed Takfiri terrorists wreak havoc on Iraq: Analyst

Takfiri terrorists that are currently operating in Iraq are the same groups created by the Western governments to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, an analyst writes for Press TV.

“The Takfiri-Wahhabi killers are spilling out of Syria, where the West created and continues to sustain them,” Rodney Shakespeare wrote in a column for the Press TV website.

He was referring to the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), which is currently wreaking havoc on Iraq.

“The Takfiri in Iraq are using American-supplied weapons,” wrote Shakespeare.

The analyst said the Western governments’ labeling of the ISIL as “enemies” is “absolutely astonishing” given their all-out support for the Takfiris fighting in Syria.

“Yet, we must all try to be gracious when fools are revealed as fools even though they have not yet really admitted it,” Shakespeare wrote.

Iraqi forces continue their battle against the ISIL Takfiri group, which is threatening to take its acts of violence to several Iraqi cities, including the capital, Baghdad.

On June 10, the ISIL militants took control of Mosul, the capital of Nineveh Province, which was followed by the fall of Tikrit, located 140 kilometers (87 miles) northwest of the capital, Baghdad.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has said that the country’s security forces would confront the terrorists, calling the seizure of Mosul a “conspiracy.” The Iraqi premier has also blamed Saudi Arabia and Qatar for the security crisis and growing terrorism in his country, denouncing Riyadh as a major supporter of global terrorism.
