Muslim states should have consensus: Ahmadinejad

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Friday that unity, brotherhood and consensus are the sources of power for Muslim countries of the Middle East region.

In a meeting with visiting Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in Tehran, President Ahmadinejad noted that the pillars of life should be built on the basis of justice and morality.

President Zardari is on a visit to Tehran to attend the two-day International Conference on Fighting Terrorism.

‘Our region is a region of values and aliens who are not acquainted with these values have intentionally focuses on such values to prevent Muslim countries from becoming powerful,’ President Ahmadinejad added.

He went to say that Muslim countries should insist on their principles and values, as well as the rights and interests of their nations while at the same time maintaining their solidarity.

‘We should prepare the prerequisites for the regional Muslim countries becoming powerful because if we become strong, the situation will change and hence no one will dare to attack the countries of the region,’ President Ahmadinejad added.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari for his part said that the foreigners do not know anything about the cultures and values of Muslim countries of the region and even if they want to help the regional nations they cannot do so.

‘For example, foreigners instead of building schools in Afghanistan and utilizing that country’s mineral resources for the welfare of Afghan people are engaged in other affairs,’ President Zardari added.

He pointed out that the Westerners are trying to take grip of the world’s economy and impose their viewpoints on the people of Third World countries.

‘We are firmly resisting and do not let them to impose their thoughts and ideas on us,’ President Zardari added.
