US chopper crashes in S Iraq

A US military helicopter has crashed due to “technical issues” while trying to land not far from the southern Iraqi city of Nasiriyah, according to reports.

The crash took place late on Saturday in a non-residential area in the southern province of Dhi Qar, IRIB reported.

According to local sources quoted by IRIB, the crash, which involved US troops, left no casualties and occurred after the helicopter experienced “a technical malfunction, 25 kilometers north of Nasiriyah.”

There have been no further details on the latest accident.
