A senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has dismissed US claims of forcing Iran to the negotiating table through sanctions and threats as mere lies.

“The United States which used to boast about its three power options, i.e. political and military and economic [power], is today lying that we (Americans) have forced Iran into negotiations through sanctions and threats or that the Islamic establishment has been undermined,” Major General Qasem Soleimani said on Sunday.

Iran and the Sextet of world powers reached a historic agreement on the resolution of the Islamic Republic’s nuclear issue in Geneva in November.

“At present, the US is the most economically indebted country in the world and militarily it has failed in any country it has intervened in,” the general who commands the IRGC Quds Force said.

In October, the US Treasury Department announced that the public debt of the United States had hit a new record at USD 17.076 trillion for the first time in the county’s history.

Soleimani also stated that the US political acceptability has declined among world nations and “it is known as a hated country among the people of the world.”

The United States has repeatedly threatened to take military action against the Islamic Republic stating that “all options are on the table” over Iran’s nuclear energy program, which Washington falsely claims to include military dimensions.

The Islamic Republic categorically rejects the allegation, stressing that as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
