US displeased with Iran-Africa ties

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki says the US is displeased with the expansion of relations between Iran and African countries.

“The perspective of America and the Zionist regime [of Israel] is [a perspective of] dominance and US relations with other nations is unilateral,” Mottaki told reporters in Tehran after his four-day African tour.

“These views have been the pillars of US international interaction over the past 60 years. The victors of WWII believe they own the whole world, they are the ones who decide and others must obey.”

“The Americans have realized today that their conflict [with Iran] is the conflict of two logics. The conflict of a logic based on thirst for power and [a logic] of power based on logic.”

While the expansion of relations with African countries in all political, economic and cultural fields is among the top priorities of Iran’s foreign policy, Mottaki’s visit to Africa mostly focused on economic ties.

“The exportation of technical and engineering services is one of Iran’s main objectives regarding the expansion of relations with African countries,” Mottaki was quoted by Fars News Agency as saying.

The Iranian foreign minister began his tour of the African continent on Thursday in Burkina Faso, where he signed several economic and trade agreements.

On the second leg of his African tour, Mottaki held talks with Ghanaian President John Evans Atta Mills before flying to the Togolese capital of Lome to meet with President Faure Gnassingbe Essozimna on Saturday morning.

Mottaki arrived in Benin for the last leg of his Africa tour before returning to Tehran on Sunday evening.
