A US drone strike has killed at least three civilians in Afghanistan’s troubled southeastern province of Logar.

Local Afghan security officials said the attack was carried out at the Baraki Barak district in western Logar during the early hours of Friday.

At least four other people were also injured in the airstrike and were rushed to a nearby hospital.

The latest strike comes two days after a US drone attack killed the same number of people in the eastern province of Nangarhar.

The US-led foreign forces in Afghanistan have recently increased their air raids against civilian areas.

Figures show that more than a dozen people were killed in a series of airstrikes in November.

Washington claims the targets of the drone attacks are militants, but local officials and witnesses maintain that civilians have been the main victims of the attacks over the past few years.

Protests have been held on several occasions against the drone strikes in Afghanistan.

The United Nations and several human rights organizations have identified the United States as the world’s number one user of “targeted killings,” largely due to its drone attacks in Afghanistan as well as Pakistan.
