‘US enmity leaves no room for relations’

A senior Iranian military official has ruled out the possibility of peaceful relations with the US due to Washington’s hostile approach towards Tehran.

“The hostile behavior and multiple [standard] approaches of the US towards Iran have destroyed the possibility of any peaceful relations,” Deputy Head of Iran’s Armed Forces Joint Chiefs of Staff Brigadier General Seyyed Masoud Jazayeri said on Wednesday.

Jazayeri added that the capitalist US regime is using human rights and nuclear issues to divert public attention from the numerous challenges it is facing.

He went on to say that US leaders believe the problems stemming from the popular anti-government protests in the country are the result of Iran’s actions.

Jazayeri described the recent US allegation about Iran’s attempting to hire someone to assassinate the Saudi envoy as “efforts by the US to negotiate with Iran, adding that Tehran would only hold talks with “a new US.”

On October 11, the US Justice Department accused Iran of involvement in a plot to assassinate Saudi Ambassador to Washington Adel Al-Jubeir with help from a suspected member of a Mexican drug cartel.

Iran has categorically denied the accusation, saying the recent anti-Iran scenario is a “ludicrous” allegation by the US.

On Saturday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the US administration is responsible for escalating tension and undermining international security through its propaganda campaign against Iran.

Jazayeri said the recent developments in the Middle East and North of Africa came as a “great shock” to arrogant powers and said the international community has a “historic opportunity” to prevent further warmongering by the US.
