US expects N-talks to resume in days

The US Secretary of State says expert-level nuclear negotiations between the representatives of Iran and the Sextet of world powers are expected to resume in a few days.

According to Press TV, John Kerry said during a visit to Occupied Palestinian Territories on Friday “We are making progress but I think that they’re at a point in those talks where folks feel a need to consult and take a moment.”

He added “There is every expectation that the talks are going to continue in the next few days and that we will proceed to the full implementation of that plan.”

Kerry made the remarks after diplomats said Iran had interrupted the technical talks in Vienna over the manner of implementing the provisions of the nuclear agreement between Tehran and the Sextet – the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.

On Friday, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister and top nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi said in a televised interview that the Islamic Republic asked its experts to return to Tehran for more consultations and further interaction on the details of the talks, so that expert-level negotiations will continue after adequate assessment and a better logic.

The four-day expert-level talks, which began on Monday, ended at the Vienna headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The spokesman for the EU foreign policy chief said Friday that the negotiations would resume after each side holds consultations with its capital.
