US facing end of its imperial, cultural dominance

n00222155-b

In a meet with Louis Farrakhan, the leader of the Nation of Islam and his accompanying delegation, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, the Chairman of Iran’s Guardian Council expressed his gratitude for the American religious leaders’ presence in Iran, saying: “My advice to you is that our brothers and sisters in the United States acquaint themselves with Imam Husayn and the Ahlul-Bayt, Ashura and the school of Ashura.”

The leader of the African-American religious movement who is visiting Iran for celebrations marking the 37th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution has earlier hailed the “wonderful revolution” and said Iran was emerging “stronger” and “more influential” than before.

Ayatollah Jannati said the culture of Ashura is the culture of jihad for the sake of God and that culture can persevere against oppression and violence. Iran was saved from the despotic rule of monarchs and the Pahlavi dynasty through Ashura and the culture of sacrifice, jihad and resistance. “God says that those who persevere, angels will descend upon them,” he said.

The Iranian cleric added that United State’s current imperial and cultural dominanceis is coming to an end and we have to wait as the Holy Quran states in regard to Imam al-Mahdi that the government will be entrusted into the hands of the the oppressed. “Islam gives us hope and the future will be in the hands of the Muslims and the righteous,” he said.

Ayatollah Jannati added: “Of course, we must be patient. Because the defeat of the oppressive powers requires a relatively long time.”

For his part, Farrakhan, an American civil rights activist and leader of the Nation of Islam, said that being in Iran, which he considered as his “home,” is a great honour for him and added that he was grateful to God for the opportunity to visit the country.

This cooperation is based on our common hope and belief in Imam al-Mahdi and the Day of Judgement. “The people in the United States are considered spiritually dead but because of Islam, we do not have any fear of the powerful devil that is the United States,” he said.
