US government represents corporate cartels not American people

The US government is not democratically-elected and does not represent the American public as it serves the imperialistic intents of global corporate cartels, a political analyst tells Press TV.

“We do not have a democratically-elected government. We have a puppet government that serves as a front for a transnational imperial system. [President Barack] Obama, [former presidents] Clinton, Bush, whomever, they all represent those same corporate interests,” said Eric Draitser, the founder of stopimperialism.com, in a Friday interview with Press TV.

“The fact of the matter is that the United States is engaging in ramping imperialism, perpetuating genocides all over the world, waging economic warfare and subversion against peaceful nations like Iran and others,” he added.

The remarks come as a new poll carried out by the Associated Press-GfK shows that Obama’s job approval rating stands at 50 percent, its lowest since his reelection.

Draitser argued that the rising public disapproval for the US government is mainly rooted in the economic depression that is gripping the United States and much of the capitalist world.

He noted that the US officials are using “whatever manipulated statistics they can” in an attempt to convince the public that the country’s economy is in the process of recovery.

“In reality, [the US officials] try to conceal the fact that we are seeing a conversion of the economy into a low-wage one,” the analyst pointed out.
