At least four people have been killed in the latest US-led airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Maidan Wardak Province, Press TV reports.

Ataullah Khogyani, the spokesman of Maidan Wardak governor, said on Thursday that two airstrike had been conducted by foreign forces overnight.

He added that the victims of the attack were Taliban militants.

Such airstrikes are mostly carried out by the US military in Afghanistan with killer drones involved.

On November 25, eight Afghan civilians, including a woman, were killed in a US assassination drone attack in the eastern part of Afghanistan.

According to the local police, the unmanned aircraft hit a house in the Wanat village.

Several Afghan provinces have seen frequent airstrikes in recent months. The US says it targets militants in drone attacks but figures on the ground show many civilians have lost their lives in the strikes.

Civilian casualties caused by foreign forces have been a major source of tension between Kabul and Washington. They have also sparked massive anti-US protests.

The Afghan government has on numerous occasions warned Washington to stop attacks on innocent civilians.

The US-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001 removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity remains across the country.
