US-led convoy attacked in Afghanistan

At least three people have been killed and 11 more suffered injuries when a bomb explosion hit a US-led troop’s convoy in Afghanistan’s southern province of Kandahar.

Three bodies of the civilians and 11 more injured were brought to the facility after the incident, head of Kandahar Health Department Abdul Qaym Pukhla told Afghan Islamic Press on Saturday.

The injured included a woman and four children, he further explained.

According to eye witnesses, the military vehicle suffered heavy damage in the blast.

The attack happened a day after US Defense Secretary Robert Gates went to Afghanistan, after travelling to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Friday to mark the formal end of the US’s military mission in the war-ravaged country.
