US-led soldier dies in Afghanistan

A powerful bomb explosion has killed at least one Danish soldier and seriously injured another in the troubled southern Afghan Province of Helmand.

The Danish military stated that the blast had occurred in Helmand on Wednesday.

Since the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, 35 Danish soldiers have lost their lives.

The latest death comes one day after nine US Special Forces died when an American helicopter crashed in the southern province of Zabul.

Taliban militants claim they shot the helicopter down.

At least 531 US-led troops have been killed in Afghanistan so far this year, making it the deadliest year since the start of the war.
